Chatting with Aly Armstong about Fleur Vancouver Wedding Show

How did you decide to do a wedding show?
I have been conceptualizing this event for quite some time. For me, it was just a matter of time and all of the stars kind of aligned. During my first tour of the Parq offices, I met with the JW sales team who showed me the model and renderings of the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver. We naturally started discussing wedding shows, and a partnership was born.
How is FLEUR Vancouver different from other wedding shows?
There will be something for everyone! We have the first ever Gentleman’s Lounge which will be hosted by Jason Sarai of Style By Sarai. He’ll be taking over one of the multi-level penthouse suites at the hotel to host the men in attendance should they want to take a break from the show. We’re also offering hands-on workshops so future brides and their friends can leave the wedding show with a new skill. 
What can couples expect from the wedding show?
We’re bringing together event industry experts and influencers like former Bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe, and Lifestyle Expert, Monika Hibbs. The main panel at 1:30pm is available to all ticket holders. Panelists will share planning tips and advice.
We’re also showcasing a luxury decor walk where guests will take a sensory journey through vignettes inspired by cities around the world. Guests will be treated to delicacies prepared by the JW Marriott Chef and of course, there will be champagne!
In the main ballroom, guests will be able to connect with the top wedding vendors in the city.
There’s definitely a lot of planning and work that goes towards a wedding show, what were your favourite parts of planning the show? What was the most difficult part?
It's been such a great experience. The team I have behind FLEUR is extremely professional and everyone has made this process smooth. Initially, I loved bouncing around ideas and creating a wedding show that Vancouverites have never seen before. Sometimes wedding shows can feel a bit stale, but FLEUR isn't cookie cutter. We're boasting a French flair and have a few surprises in-store.
Will FLEUR Vancouver be a yearly event?
Absolutely! I look forward to growing FLEUR and hope to continue to inspire couples for many years to come.
FLEUR Vancouver is in a few days, how are you feeling?
I'm feeling a bundle of emotions! I'm feeling excited, grateful and naturally a bit nervous. This has been something I've dreamed about for years, and to see my vision come to life is special.
Do you have any advice for engaged couples?
Pad your budget. There will always be miscellaneous costs that come up and line items that you may not have thought of before starting the planning process. And most importantly - have fun!
